How does it Work?
(The Science Bit!)
Our tattoo removal laser produces a very high power in quick pulses. The light enegy produced tends to pass through normally pigmented skin and is absorbed by the tattoo ink deep in the dermis layer where it is then shattered into tiny particles. These particles are removed from the body through the normal immune system. As the ink particles are removed, via the imune system the tattoo begins to fade.
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Safe?
Tattoo removal lasers are very safe for use when used by our fully trained laser operators. The radiation emitted by a tattoo removal laser is non-ionizing and carries no risk of cancer or other abnormal cell growth. The procedure is non-surgical and non-invasive.
Does it hurt?
Every person’s experience is a little different. Laser tattoo removal is not going to be the most comfortable thing you’ve ever done but whether it gives you a prickling sensation or whether it’s a proper ouch it’s impossible to tell until you try.
The patch-test is free and we start at the lowest setting to find the level that’s best for you, both for tattoo removal and for your comfort and tolerance of the experience. It wil give you a good idea of how it’s going to feel.
Will the laser treatment leave a scar?
Not normally, it is very unusual to develop any scarring, however; subject to poor aftercare there may be a 5% chance, so its vital to heed the advice given in regards to aftercare treatment.
What happens immediately after each treatment?
After each treatment session, the area treated will feel hot and the skin will form small white blisters. These are water vapour spots and may be flat or slightly raised. This is a good sign that the treatment is working. The white spots will fade quickly and the remaining ink will start to show through.
Underneath that upper layer of skin the laser will have broken down ink that is bound into the collogen layers of the skin. Your own immune system can now find these fragmented ink molecules and clear them away as it would with any other toxin in your skin.
How Long Does Each Treatment Take ?
Each treatment can take between 5 and 30mins; longer sessions could cause too much skin trauma. Each session is personal to you; what your needs are and how long you are comfortable sitting for. After the first couple of treatments you will get a good idea of how long your session will take. We recommend that larger tattoos need to be treated in several seperate sittings.
Depending on the size, age and type of ink used in the tattoo, together with the result required (removal or fading) up to 12 or more sessions may be needed.
How Much Does Each Sessions Cost?
The first stage is to have a Consultation and Free Patch Test; this will determine if you are suitable for treatment. This will include completion of a medical questionnaire and an individual patch-test to ensure that you will not have a reaction to the treatment. This normally takes 10 – 15 mins.
Each session is usually £40 covering an area of 10cm by 8cm (size of a mans palm). We also provide a package series of 5 sessions for a discounted price of £100. Have a chat with our laser specialist and I’m sure we can work out a plan that will help you clear that unwanted ink and be good value for money!
